I think the blogger behind Survivor Philippines dot com can be commended becauseof his hardwork and dedication to the site. It is the unofficial survivor website, yes, but it contains a lot of discussion on who should be crowned the sole survivor. However, it is very confusing.

So to those who are wondering what the “Official website of Survivor Philippines” is, it’s this…… “WWW.SURVIVORPHILIPPINES.TV“

Gigit was not emotionally available enough, and his team mates question his motives. If he spoke with them like he did to the cameras, he would have seemed sincere, adamant and approachable.

Nonetheless, gigit is all that we hope to be when we get to his age. Whatta MAN!

My Impressions so Far

The first thing they did was to divide the teams into two. I was excited at the politics behind the split, if it’s random or not. But as it is, it’s men vs. women. Now, we learn that there is a  split, and the men and women will be mixed together.

What was the purpose of the initial single gender groups? I’m guessing it’s so that each team can see the true colors of their counterparts and their quirks without the members of the other gender in attendance.

It’s funny when they did this in Survivor Vanuatu. Men vs. Women then a man won. He conveyed a powerful message at the end of the show. He claimed that his gameplan vs. six women who were formerly in alliance was to stand aside and let them go at each other. He became a confidante and made himself useful to the team of women, and ultimately won.

I wonder how the initial split will affect Survivor Philippines

The Plot is NOT unique, but a spectacular storyline was not exactly needed for this movie.

The main selling point of this movie is the cast and the location. KC and Richard have the chemistry that everyone is looking for in a Love Team.

I. KC Concepcion - Acting, Looks and Over-All Performance

She has potential! Her role in this movie isn’t exactly a big challenge, and despite that she still hasn’t shown her true birthright as a Movie Princess, she will get there. Maybe it will take the scathing reviews of her performance in her first movie to shake her up, but she definitely HAS what it takes.

KC’s physical appearance is daunting, and not many guys in showbiz can match her. She is just so big in terms of star power… who else could boast of carrying the exact eyes, nose and lips of the hottest matinee idol in the history of Philippine cinema, Gabby Concepcion; and the wealth of reel tears that can only be from the Megastar herself, Sharon Cuneta?

This first step towards eventual stardom, if the reviews don’t break her, will make her realize her weak points.

The good news is, she doesn’t have to yet. The hype surrounding her first love team, first movie and first intrigues is enough to keep her afloat ’til the end of the year at least. With her face so related to the equally grand splash created by her biological father’s coming home to Phlippine showbiz, she could sail on with the cutie outlook before she has to work her butt off to get to her mom’s acting level.

II. Richard Guttierez - Acting, Star Growth and Leading Lady Choices

 My initial thought was…. “I can’t believe the kid who played the lead role in ‘Kambal Tuko’ could grow up to be this versatile actor guy”. Versatile is the keyword for Richard’s acting. We have been spoiled rotten for a long time by his fantasy flicks at GMA-7 that we tend to think of Richard only as a cutesie-balootsie matinee idol who won’t get past the ‘Idol’ phase.

But this movie showed us all what his future in Philippine showbiz will be like. Effective leading man roles are lacking in today’s showbiz scene, and Richard’s performance here is a hint that he is the future of this aspect in Philippine movies.

The main hindrance to Richard’s success so far has been his LACK of matching leading ladies. His “kastilaloy looks” turned out to be more difficult to pair with the available leading ladies nowadays. Which previous love team of Chard could you call memorable? None.

His team up with KC solved this problem for sure! KC’s uniquely tisay looks and regal bearing is the perfect “princess” complement to Richard’s “prince”.

More REAL kissing scenes are lacking in “For the First Time” and all kilig scenes are choreographed to provide just that…. kilig.

For the sequel, may we request the following: More sexy love scenes, more believable acting (from KC at least) and more real kisses!!!

Q. What is the real reason for everyone’s Gay Perception of Raymond?

A. Because he is the twin brother of Ultra-macho Richard Gutierrez.

Having the same FACE will lead to comparisons. That people think Raymond is not as “macho” as his twin brother means people are separating them in their minds. This is a good thing for both of them and as soon as they realize that, the Gutierrez camp can quit defending Raymond’s ‘manhood’.

Youtube video on one musical number in the LA show added to the controversy. This time, Joey de Leon targeted ABS-CBN’s Pokwang. The comedian called the comedienne “aswang”, which translates to “overwhelmingly ugly” in usual Filipino lingo.

So, ‘ugly’ calls are on now? Here’s the video of the LA show. In fairness, Joey did not put the words “aswang” and “pokwang” together in one stanza, but in two.

So who do you think is the quickest to jump to Pokwang’s defense? Who else but Willie Revillame, who couldn’t resist jabbing long-time nemesis Joey de Leon with calls of “FOUL”. Pokwang appeard on one Wowowee episode, but only had nice words for Joey de Leon. She did share how her daughter is being teased about having an “aswang” for a mom at school, which is causing the kid emotional pain and trauma.

As we have come to expect from Wowowee, Willie’s dibs bordered on the personal. He said (translation) “Pokwang’s son died while she was working in Japan, now her only daughter is crying because she’s being teased about her mom’s “new  status” (aswang)”

Opinion: 

1. Despite Pokwang’s hurt, she can’t deny that this is GOOD publicity, which could be causing her graciousness towards the whole issue. Babalu, Ai-Ai delas Alas (who coincidentally is rumored as Pokwang’s current arch-rival), and even Palito and Rene Requestas ALL capitalized on their “ugliness”. And excuse me, Pokwang wasn’t the  original “aswang” face in showbiz… does anyone remember Bella Flores? She took on “aswang-faced” roles numerous times, and now she’s a legend in Philippine showbiz.

2. I doubt if Pokwang’s “ugliness” is her sore spot, but Eat Bulaga’s ratings anywhere in the world is definitely Joey’s. Willie’s joining the issue could just ignite the veteran comedian into yet ANOTHER word war. Way to go, Willie.

Angel’s sojourn from one network to the next was not easy, as talks of bad feelings among networks were rampant. The celebrities at ABS-CBN were also rumored to have uneasy feelings with Angel’s joining ABS-CBN, and for good reason. Angel Locsin is the hottest star right now with fans admiring her acting and her heat as a potential sexy star.

PARLOR INCIDENT

Rumor has it that an encounter happened between the two stars in a beauty parlor where they were both being attended to. A beautician allegedly reported to Claudine that Angel was treating them with unbecoming attitude (”maldita“). Claudine reportedly went to Angel and told her some choice words about respecting others and the like. (”Pinagsabihan“)

Now here’s when the reports turn really confusing. Was it just a verbal match, or did Angel really kick a chair to show her affront?

Angel vs. ABS-CBN mainstays - Then there’s the issue of Angel being ostracized by mainstays of ABS-CBN. Apparently she was never accepted in the group and is generally left alone. The network is wise to give angel projects upon projects because of her popularity and mass appeal, but it seems that the other stars still see her as a big threat to their careers.

But not Claudine. Her comeback isn’t in any way diminished by Angel Locsin’s presence, as history has shown how any Claudine Barretto teleserye can glue people to their screens during prime time. With this in mind, does Claudine have a right to talk down to Angel?

Of course, there’s that nagging suspicion that all these could be a ploy to increase Angel’s popularity and push Claudine Barretto again to the masses.

Another Filipino movie to feature the life of Overseas Filipino Workers, this time on board a cruise ship. It opens in theaters nationwide starting August 6, 2008.

Some actors are really wise and invest while they’re on top, but some live for the moment and don’t plan ahead. While money is friendly to hot stars, the lifestyle of a showbiz personality could be very difficult to maintain.

I was with a few people once who wanted to audition for a role in an Indie film that involved some nudity. It was a gay film, the setting was in Asia, but the production staff is foreign. To my surprise, joining us in line were former stars who I thought were ‘over’ the whole showbiz thing already. They were sent by their agents apparently and they still audition for roles such as those even after their careers have dimmed. I was amused wnen a particularly known action star emerged from the audition room exclaiming, “there’s no way I will kiss another man”, which the others took as a good sign because it meant that they now have bigger chances of getting the roles.

Sometimes, though, a male star’s acceptance in a role is directly proportional to the size of his package. It’s no wonder that male enhancement (more…)

The heat is on… or is it?

Angel Locsin and Piolo Pascual start shooting their first movie together as soon as Lobo ends this July. The movie will be for Star Cinema. The location of the movie will be in Bukidnon and Australia, and it seems that ABS-CBN really put everything on this movie, banking on the popularity of the 2 celebrities. But will their team work?

They have chemistry for sure, but surely none of the electrifying chemistry between Piolo and Juday? Or Jericho and Kristine?

Besides Lobo, I’ve only seen these stars together in billboards, modeling timepieces together. Up there, they hit it off. The two lead stars talked about their projects together at the Buzz on June 22.With the overwhelming support of their fans, they are sure to do a wonderful job on their first movie. I don’t know about you, but I’m excited!
